What is the purpose of the organization?

The Lawton and Allied Families Association preserves and perpetuates the legacy Rev. Pierre Robert and of Joseph and Sarah Lawton. We learn from and teach the family’s legacy to our descendants, we build lasting relationships among ourselves and we seek to preserve our monuments including sites, buildings, historic records and cemeteries.

Who are the "Allied Families"

Our name was chosen to include the Robert family and a number of other Lowcountry families which are closely connected by marriage. Persons with Lowcountry roots descended from these families are likely related.

How do I become a member?

The “Family Circle” book (on this website) is a primary source for establishing membership. Published originally in 1931, people may join by showing that they are descended from one of the individuals listed in the Family Circle. We do not require full formal proofs (such as certified copies of birth and death certificates, etc) that are required by some historical organizations.

What does the association do?

The association meets annually to learn from one another and to share relationships. On occasion, we raise funds to restore important sites connected to our family’s history.
